B2B lead generation for law firms
Updated: 5 October 2026
Newlead runs B2B lead generation for law firms that serve businesses: corporate, commercial, employment, IP and regulatory practices, not personal injury or consumer law. We build a verified list of general counsel, founders and executives, send cold email in your firm's name, handle every reply and deliver each interested lead to your Slack with name, company, email and phone.
Your firm approves the copy, we remove your clients and adverse parties from the list, and only interested replies reach your partners.

What results look like
We email law firms ourselves, to win clients for Newlead. These numbers come from that outbound, so they show how buyers replied to our pitch, not what your campaign will produce. Full data: cold email benchmarks 2026.
- 1.07% reply rate from US law firms. We contacted 3,658 firms with 10,761 emails, and it took 610 firms per opportunity, meaning a reply positive enough to become a live sales conversation. That is how partners answered an agency pitch, and a sign of how crowded their inboxes are.
- 1.89% reply rate across all our own outbound, counted as unique human replies divided by unique people contacted.
- 0.62% bounce rate across 371,590 emails, with every address verified before it enters a sequence.
Plan for volume. The planning table on that page puts US small and mid-market companies at 280 to 370 contacts per opportunity, professional services at about 610 and enterprise at 2,500 or more. They measure replies to our offer, not to legal services, but each means hundreds of contacts per conversation. Market, list size and offer drive results.
Which law firms and buyers is this built for?
Firms that sell to businesses. The buyer is whoever hires outside counsel for your type of work.
| Practice area | Who usually buys | Example signal to target |
|---|---|---|
| Corporate and M&A | Founders, CEOs, CFOs | A funding round or acquisition |
| Commercial and contracts | General counsel, COOs | Expansion into a new market |
| Employment | HR leaders, founders | Fast hiring or a first office in a new state |
| Intellectual property | Founders, product and R&D leaders | A product launch or new brand |
| Regulatory and compliance | General counsel, compliance leads | Entry into a regulated market |
Signals decide who gets an email, not what it says. Under ABA Model Rule 7.3, a solicitation goes to a specific person you know needs legal services "in a particular matter". An email offering help with a named lawsuit against the reader fits that definition. An email about your employment practice, sent to fast-growing software companies, names no particular matter. We write the second kind.
How do business law firms get new clients?
| Channel | Speed to first lead | What drives cost | Control over volume | Best when |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Referrals | Unpredictable | Partner time | Low | Clients and other advisers send work your way |
| SEO and content | Slow, often months | Writing time or agency fees | Low | Buyers search for your practice area |
| Paid ads | Fast once live | Click prices | High, while you pay | The need is urgent and searchable |
| Medium | Partner time on posts | Medium | Partners post often | |
| Events and speaking | Tied to the calendar | Fees, travel and preparation | Low | Your buyers meet at a few known events |
| Cold email | Weeks, after 14 days of warm-up | List size and sending setup | High | You can name the companies and roles that buy |
Cold email does not replace referrals. It adds a channel where you choose the practice area, the companies and the volume. We run cold email only, not LinkedIn, ads or calls. Compare cold email vs LinkedIn outreach and cold email vs paid ads.
What does a delivered lead look like?
Each interested lead is posted to your Slack in this format.
Example, placeholder values
New interested lead
- Name: [First and last name]
- Role: [General Counsel]
- Company: [Company name, industry, number of employees]
- Email: [name@company.com]
- Phone: [Direct or mobile number]
- Campaign: [Practice area and target segment]
- Reply: [The lead's reply, in full]
Only interested replies reach Slack. Our team handles out-of-office messages, no's and wrong-person replies.
Will cold email touch our firm's main domain?
No. Your main domain carries client work and never sends cold email. We use dedicated sending domains and inboxes, separate from your main domain, warmed for 14 days first.
A typical setup, as an example: 4-6 sending domains, 100-250 inboxes, about 4 emails per inbox per day, plain text without tracking, 4 emails over about three weeks, and lists of up to 10,000 contacts. More on the method on our cold email agency page.
What rules apply when a law firm emails businesses?
Email to businesses is allowed in the US and the UK, with conditions. Last checked 3 October 2026.
United States
- ABA Model Rule 7.3. It bars soliciting by live person-to-person contact, such as in person or by live phone, for pecuniary gain, with some exceptions. The comment says live contact does not include "written communications that recipients may easily disregard" and that communications "can be mailed or transmitted by email" (Rule 7.3, comment).
- Stop on a no. Rule 7.3(c) bars soliciting anyone who has made known a desire not to be solicited. Any no or opt-out ends the sequence for that contact, and the person goes on a blocklist and is never contacted again.
- Name a responsible lawyer. Model Rule 7.2(d) requires "the name and contact information of at least one lawyer or law firm responsible for its content" (Rule 7.2). The Model Rules "serve as models for the ethics rules of most jurisdictions" (ABA), so check your state's version for labeling, filing or record-keeping rules.
- CAN-SPAM. "The law makes no exception for business-to-business email." Each email needs honest headers and subject lines, a physical postal address and an opt-out honored within 10 business days, among other rules (FTC).
United Kingdom
- SRA Code 8.9. Solicitors may not make "unsolicited approaches to members of the public", except current or former clients. The SRA's guidance discusses members of the public only (SRA Code, guidance). A compliance consultancy reported in 2020 that the SRA's Professional Ethics team confirmed in writing that this excludes businesses (JBL Compliance). Paragraph 8.8 requires publicity that is accurate and not misleading.
- PECR and UK GDPR. Companies and LLPs can be emailed without prior consent, because the PECR rule on marketing email "does not apply" to corporate subscribers. Every email must still identify the sender and give an opt-out address (regulation 23). Sole traders and some partnerships need consent or a soft opt-in, so we target companies and LLPs. UK GDPR still applies to named contacts, and the ICO says its guidance is under review (ICO).
Emails we send for you are your firm's own communication. Rule 7.3 covers communications "by or on behalf of a lawyer or law firm", and the FTC says you "can't contract away your legal responsibility". This is not legal advice. Your compliance officer or counsel signs off copy before launch. Full guide: is cold email legal.
Why Newlead instead of a BD hire or a legal marketing agency?
| Compared on | Newlead | In-house BD or SDR hire | Legal marketing agency |
|---|---|---|---|
| Who does the work | Our team: list, copy, sending and replies | A person you recruit, train and manage | The agency, scope varies |
| Usually aimed at | Companies that buy your practice area | Whatever you assign | Often search ads and consumer case intake |
| What reaches partners | Interested leads in Slack, with phone number | Meetings, if they are logged | Form fills and calls |
More in in-house vs agency lead generation. Newlead is a Swedish company in Eskilstuna, founded in January 2025 by co-founders Max Erikstedt (CEO) and Vishal Vyas (about Newlead). We also run lead generation for consulting firms and lead generation for accounting and CPA firms. See all industries we work with or our B2B lead generation agency service.
What this costs
Newlead does not publish prices. Scope depends on how many companies fit your practice areas, which markets you sell in, the sending setup that volume needs and whether you add meeting booking.
We scope it with you on the discovery call. Prefer to run outbound in-house? Our one-time implementation means we build the outbound system and your firm owns it.

Who this is for
- Corporate, commercial, employment, IP and regulatory firms that sell to businesses.
- Firms with a practice area to grow and a clear target client.
- Partners who call an interested lead the same day or the next.
- Firms that can clear copy with their ethics counsel before launch.
- Firms selling to companies in the US, the UK or both.
Who this is not for
- Personal injury, family and other consumer practices.
- Firms whose counsel has not cleared targeted email in their state.
- Firms that only want general counsel at the largest enterprises. In our own outbound, US enterprise buyers needed 2,500 or more contacts per opportunity.
- Firms that want LinkedIn outreach, cold calls or ads run for them.
Common questions
Can law firms cold email businesses?
Yes, in the US and the UK, if the emails follow the rules. ABA Model Rule 7.3 bans live person-to-person solicitation, not email. CAN-SPAM requires honest headers, a postal address and opt-outs honored within 10 business days. Under PECR, UK companies and LLPs can be emailed without prior consent. This is not legal advice.
Is a cold email a solicitation under Rule 7.3?
Only if it targets a particular matter, and even then email is not what the rule bans. A solicitation under Model Rule 7.3 goes to a specific person you know needs legal services in a particular matter. The ban covers live contact, in person or by live phone. Rule 7.3(c) still bars soliciting anyone who has said no.
Do our emails need an Attorney Advertising label?
It depends on your state. ABA Model Rule 7.3 has no labeling requirement, but state rules can differ and may require a label, a filing or record-keeping for targeted email. Your ethics counsel decides, and we add any required wording. Model Rule 7.2(d) also requires the name and contact information of a responsible lawyer or law firm.
Can UK solicitors email businesses under SRA rules?
Yes, for companies and LLPs, based on the rules and guidance we checked. SRA Code paragraph 8.9 bans unsolicited approaches to members of the public. A compliance consultancy reported in 2020 that the SRA's Professional Ethics team confirmed in writing this excludes businesses. Under PECR, sole traders need consent or a soft opt-in, so we target companies and LLPs. Not legal advice.
How do you avoid emailing our clients or adverse parties?
You give us an exclusion list before launch, and we remove every company and contact on it. It can hold current clients, adverse parties, companies in matters you handle and any name your conflicts team flags. We screen the target list against it before the first send, and you can add names any time.
Do you do lead generation for personal injury firms?
No. We only work with law firms that sell to businesses, such as corporate, commercial, employment, IP and regulatory practices. Personal injury, family law and other consumer practices need consumer clients, and we do not email consumers. In the UK, SRA Code paragraph 8.9 also bars unsolicited approaches to members of the public.
